Der Untergang 2004

The film is adapted from Joachim Fest's novel "Der Untergang" from the account of Traudl Junge, one of the living witnesses of Hitler's death. With historical background, this film is very capable of capturing details of the atmosphere behind Hitler's private bunker walls. Because this is a true story, it doesn't feel like a spoiler because we tell the ending of this movie where the leader commits suicide. Ironically, considering that he had avoided 42 car bombs (see Valkyrie), it turns out that Hitler's own hand ended his life. Narratively, his backstory was very strong. The detailed elaboration was also excellent, allowing us to capture the atmosphere that was trying to show the leader's end of life. We can see that private bunkers, originally built for security reasons, have the opposite effect when people inside are always feeling the fear of death. There's hope.
